Colonel Zakharchenko’s 3 foreign cars being brought to hammer

Rosimushchestvo (the Federal Agency for State Property Management) has put out three foreign cars that had earlier been seized from Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko accused of bribery to tender, reports the web site of the Agency.

With that, 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS and 2012 Porsche Cayenne SHybrid, as well as 2015 Mercedes Benz S500 4MATIC are being brought to the hammer. The total value of the cars is a bit more than 10.5 million rubles ($160 thousand).

The CrimeRussia had earlier reported Zakharchenko had been detained in September, 2016. He is being accused of taking a few bribes. According to the investigation, in 2016, Zakharchenko received a $800 thousand bribe from an owner of a restaurant La Maree Medi Duss. In 2015, the MIA’s Colonel demanded a 50 per cent discount voucher from the same businessman.

Besides that, the Investigative Committee accused Zakharchenko of obstruction of investigation. The Colonel warned his acquaintance of a forthcoming search in a swindling criminal case and organized export of documents.

More than 8.5 billion rubles (roughly $130 million) were seized from the Colonel and his family as part of the investigation. The Colonel had stated less than 93 thousand rubles ($1.4 thousand) belonged to him out of the money that had been seized.

In December, 2017, the court fulfilled the demand by the Prosecutor-General’s Office, according to which Zakharchenko and his family’s cash resources would transform into the government revenues.
