Kuban university enrollment board secretaries make $1.530.000 on bribes
Hefty sums were found in their accounts; there was also some luxury real estate.
Technical secretaries of the enrollment board at the Belorechensk branch of the Adyghe State University accepted bribes in exchange for their assistance to applicants, local media said.
Not only did the secretaries help with enrollment, but also gave higher education certificates with the university seals and marks for tests and examinations allegedly passed in the training course. Admission and education at the university was filled out retroactively.
In March 2019, one of the secretaries was detained at the workplace as she was accepting 1 million 800 thousand rubles. The educational institution and the employees’s houses were searched and more than 100 million rubles were seized in the process. The secretaries also turned out to possess large sums in their accounts and own luxury real estate. All this has been attached.
Three secretaries of the enrollment board are prosecuted. Depending on the role of each, they were charged with a few counts of mediation in bribery using official, unlawful actions on a large scale and an attempt to commit these actions (part 3 of Art. 30, part 3 of Art. 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). All three have been placed in custody.
