Danabash, slain in 2012, is running business in Prague and Moscow

Danabash, slain in 2012, is running business in Prague and Moscow

‘Authoritative’ businessman Ilgar Dzhabrailov, an associate of ‘criminal patriarch’ Ded Khasan, killed in the center of Moscow, has suddenly ‘resurrected’ in the Czech Republic. It turned out that he continues running business in Prague and Moscow. There are two possibilities: either his murder was staged, or somebody is acting on his behalf.

In April 2012, businessman Ilgar Dzhabrailov (Danabash) was shot dead on Presnensky Val street in Moscow – right across 16 Tonn (16 Tons) Nightclub. In certain circles, he was known as the head of the ‘secretariat’ of Aslan Usoyan (Ded Khasan). Not a single thief-in-law could get an appointment with the ‘patriarch’ to discuss his issues without the approval of Dzhabrailov. In addition, he was responsible for liaison with governmental officials and law enforcement structures and represented Ded Khasan at thieves’ congregations. In other words, Danabash was the closest aide to the late ‘thieves’ patriarch’.

Despite his great powers, Ilgar Dzhabrailov was almost never mentioned in police reports. He was born in Azerbaijan, served the compulsory military service in Uzbekistan, and married there. His two sons, El’giz and Dzheikhun, were born there as well. In the early 1990s, Dzhabrailov has relocated, together with his family, to Moscow and settled on Kuskovskaya street.

Danabash was running a legitimate business: in 1999, he established Mega Color S.P. Limited Liability Company specializing in alcohol sales. Currently, this company has Yug (South) grocery store in Astoria Trade Center built in 2010 not far from Pechatniki subway station. Its legal address is on Gur’yanova street – in the past, Uyut (Coziness) Nightclub and Restaurant had operated there; currently, this location accommodates Magnit (Magnet) Superstore.

The assassin, who has shot dead the businessman in his SUV, was captured by security cameras. He approached by foot the Toyota Land Cruiser of Dzhabrailov standing on the traffic way near the streetlight. The man in a black cap got close to the driver’s door and opened fire with a handgun. Danabash died on the scene. His uncontrolled vehicle rammed into the car standing in front of it; the female passenger of the Toyota Land Cruiser sitting next to Dzhabrailov hit her head and bruised the parietal region.

25-year-old Alena Evteeva was admitted to Sklifosovsky Ambulance Research Institute and diagnosed with gunshot wounds to the head, neck, and chest – however, all these wounds were tangential. Using her statements and witnesses’ testimonies, the investigators managed to construct a facial composite of the killer.

The law enforcement authorities failed to capture the criminal shortly after the incident. A month after the murder of Danabash, the largest in the recent years thieves’ congregationattended by representatives of rival Georgian thieves’ clans and a substantial delegation of neutral crowned thieves was held in an East Mediterranean country (according to some information, in the Greek part of Cyprus) to discuss inter alia vengeance for the death of Dzhabrailov.

A few years later, thief-in-law Ul’fat Tagiev (Rufat Gyandzhinsky) was named the killer of Danabash. In September 2013, operatives of the General Administration of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation have arrested him shortly before the civil disturbances on a vegetable warehouse in Biryulevo. In 2015, Tagiev was sentenced to 8 years in a maximum security penal colony for the murder of El’kham Aliev, a cofounder of Lyublinsky market, committed in 2013 and illegal arms trafficking. According to the operative information, Tagiev, being a native of Ganja, Azerbaijan, was a close associate of crowned thief Rovshan Dzhaniev (Rovshan Lenkoransky).

In 2011, Rovshan Dzhaniev launched a war on Ded Khasan, then-most influential thief-in-law in Russia. Ul’fat Tagiev and Nazim Gumbatov (Nazim Khromoi (Nazim the Lame)) had participated in it. Plenty of crimes were committed in the framework of the gang war waged by Rovshan for the control over Pokrovskaya vegetable warehouse and wholesale greenery market affiliated with it. In that period, Rovshan Lenkoransky had striven to become the leader of Azerbaijani ‘mafia’ groups – but could not achieve this goal because the majority of prominent Azerbaijani crowned thieves were members of the clan led by Usoyan and successfully opposed him. Ded Khasan survived several assassination attempts – but on January 20, 2013, he was shot dead at the exit of Stary Faeton (Old Phaeton) Restaurant accommodating his unofficial headquarters.

In the course of the investigation, Rufat Gyandzhinsky admitted that he had supervised the killer of Ded Khasan and planned that operation: allegedly, Tagiev was responsible for his escape after the assassination. However, Rufat Gyandzhinsky hasn’t named the masterminds behind this murder. Furthermore, this episode was not mentioned in the guilty sentence passed upon him. No information is available with regards to the conviction of Tagiev for the murder of Ilgar Dzhabrailov.

In late May 2018, operatives of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department have arrested in Bely Dom (White House) Restaurant thief-in-law Khadzhibaba Talybkhanly (Khadzhi Beilagansky) charged inter alia with the murder of Danabash. He also was a member of the clan led by late Rovshan Lenkoransky; the investigators consider him one of the ‘staff killers’ of Rovshan. “The operatives call him a crowned thief and concurrently an assassin – but they contradict themselves: thieves-in-law cannot be killers. This case was framed-up,” – Aishat Burmistrova, an attorney for Talybkhanly, claims.

It is necessary to note that several other close associates of Ded Khasan were assassinated prior to the murder of Danabash. In 2011, MIA lieutenant colonel Tamaz Broi (Tamazik) was killed. He had served in the Interregional Center for Protection of Transported Assets of the MIA General Administration of Extradepartmental Security and supposedly was the main intermediary between the MIA and Aslan Usoyan. In the same year, Andrei Sel’vyan (Sel’vi), head of several private security companies who used to personally guard Ded Khasan, was murdered. In 2010, businessman Eduard Kakosyan (Karas’ (Crucian)) was assassinated in Sochi, while Timur Sadoyan – in Krasnodar. Both of them had ties with Usoyan.

However, almost 7 years after the murder of Ded Khasan’s ‘secretary’, Sobesednik newspaper has found the name of Ilgar Dzhabrailov in the Czech Registry of Legal Entities. His birthday and residential registration address in Moscow match the personal data of late Danabash. He and some Irina Bolonina from Prague have founded Mega Color company in the Czech Republic – this name also matches the name of a Moscow company belonging to Danabash. Similarly with its Russian namesake, the Czech firm specializes in alcohol sales. It was incorporated a few weeks before the conviction of killer Rufat Gyandzhinsky by the Lyublinsky District Court of Moscow.

Interestingly, Moscow-based Mega Color S.P. Limited Liability Company still continues its operations. In 2017, its profits amounted to 76 million rubles ($1.2 million). It was even involved in several arbitration proceedings. In 2012, lawyer Etibar Nadzhafgulu ogly Guseinov had represented Mega Color S.P. in the arbitration court by a power of attorney issued 3 weeks before the murder of Dzhabrailov. Later, Guseinov was convicted for swindling.

After the assassination of Dzhabrailov, thief-in-law Yusif Aliev (Yus’ka Bakinsky) was supposed to supersede him as the ‘secretary’, while the sons of Danabash were expected to take care of his business. According to the Consolidated State Registry of Legal Entities, some El’giz Ilgarovich Dzhabrailov owns an all-day shop in Pechatniki, while Dzheikhun Ilgar ogly Aliev owns a restaurant officially belonging to Mos-Obshchepit 2013 Limited Liability Company.

Immediately after the assassination of Ilgar Dzhabrailov, media outlets started publishing confusing information about that crime. For instance, Life.ru portal had claimed that Danabashwas still alive: “On that day, his friend – 52-year-old Ilgar Aliev – was using his car”.

In fact, a passport in the name of Ilgar Aliev was indeed found on the body of slain Danabash. Furthermore, thief-in-law Ilgar Aliev (Ilgar Dmanissky) is a real person – but he is much younger than Danabash. Aliev was crowned in March 2012 – i.e. a month before the murder of Dzhabrailov. Since then, he was repeatedly seen alive. In 2014, Ilgar Dmanissky was arrested and sentenced to 4 years behind bars under part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, making or processing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or analogs thereof). In 2018, he was deported to Azerbaijan and later detained in Kiev. In other words, there is no doubt that Ilgar Aliev is alive.

It can’t be ruled out that the passport in the name of Aliev found on the body of Danabash was fake. It was not a problem for him to get a false ID. In fact, Danabash had provided all close associates of Ded Khasan with false documents and special passes for their cars. He had powerful acquaintances in the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation – and many members of the criminal world were displeased with that. According to one of the versions, Danabash was killed because of his ties with law enforcement structures. On the other hand, the confusing information about his assassination could be leaked to the media on purpose... Despite the weird records in the Czech Registry of Legal Entities, no photos or other hard evidence indicating that the ‘secretary’ of Ded Khasan is still alive – or, quite the opposite, dead – are available so far.
