Corruption scheme that was made by a head of a division of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and his assistant in Kemerovo region were exposed by intelligence services.

Law enforcers-bribetakers were exposed in Kemerovo region. 42-year-old head of a division of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of one of the regional municipalities and his assistant in Kemerovo region are being suspected of bribery upon a preliminary collusion. Security chiefs decided to “earn money” on freight traffic on public roads.

The Federal Security Service employees exposed the corruption scheme in January. The intelligence service learnt that the police officers made a pact with a businessman related to unhampered transportation of coal in heavy-duty special vehicles at the rate of 20 rubles ($0.31) for a ton.

With the help of the central board of MIA, the intelligence services detained a head of a division of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and his assistant in his offices. 80 thousand rubles ($1.2 thousand) - the alleged bribe- in cash were also found there.

Investigators reported they are not going to stop at investigation of only one instance of bribery. They’re going to examine funds on the alleged bribetakers’ accounts. This inspection is expected to determine other instances of crimes.

Media relations officer of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Kemerovo region Irina Mazeeva said that besides a criminal case in Kuzbass directorate of MIA, there’s going to be a service check of these parties. In case court finds them guilty, they will be fired from law enforcement.

Besides that, their direct front office is going to be subjected to disciplinary action.
