Criminal cases against them have been initiated.

Searches were carried out in offices of the administration of Chelyabinsk region’s Troitsky district within a corruption case, reports Znak.com with reference to the media office of the regional Chief Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

The defendants in the case are two officials: a head of a directorate of the housing and public utilities of the administration of Troitsky district Anton Guk and a head of a technical and planning division of the same directorate Galina Semkina. They are being accused of bribe taking (item 3 of article 290 of Russia’s Criminal Code).

The investigation theory is that last year, Guk - with the help of Semkina - received 75 thousand rubles ($1.1 thousand) from a representative of a commercial company. In exchange, he promised to facilitate the positive experts evaluation concerning road works carried out without elimination of defects that had earlier been discovered.

Semkina - as an intermediary - received 13 thousand rubles (roughly $200). Besides that, she helped the company tie up a contract with the municipality related to execution of construction works at a higher price.

The searches in the administration of Troitsky district were carried out on February 27. Investigative activities are being carried out with the detainees. The accusation and the measure of restraint are being considered.
