Andrey Kochuykov nicknamed Italyanets

Kochuykov, who is held in the Butyrka pre-trial detention center, complained about threats from operatives and prison staff.

Crime boss Andrey Kochuykov, nicknamed Italyanets (the Italian), known as the closest ally of kingpin Zachary Kalashov (Shakro Molodoy), insured his life of unlawful violence by the FSIN officers. The convict, who is held in the Butyrka pre-trial detention center, complained about threats from operatives and prison staff, RT reports.

“I can’t say that there is a case study that would statistically show that insured prisoners were not tortured, and those who were not insured were. Usually, when the insured event is indemnified by a public institution, we are talking about small amounts. If millions were to be reimbursed, then they probably would have been frightened,” said the PMC member Eva Merkacheva.

Earlier, former mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov and ex-deputy director of the FSIN Nikolay Krivolapov also insured themselves against tortures. Amirov was convicted of banditry and murder, and Krivolapov was convicted of fraud.

Kochuykov was sentenced to 8.9 years in a strict regime penal colony for extortion on an especially large scale.
