Head of a settlement in the North Ossetia transferred about $100 thousand to avoid jail.

Deputy head of directorate for economic security and corruption control of Russia’s MIA in the North Ossetia Albert Kozonov has been detained by law-enforcement officers while receiving a 6.7 million rubles ($100 thousand) bribe from a head of a settlement. The Police Colonel promised not to criminally prosecute the bribegiver following the inspection, reports the Office of Investigations of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Republic.

The investigation theory is that on February 14, 2019, the 53-year-old Kozonov met the head of a Republic’s settlement in his office and claimed money for ‘protection’. The head of the settlement reported to the Federal Security Service Directorate of the Russian Federation in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania and - under control of intelligence services - handed on the bribe to Kozonov. The security officials detained the suspect on February 21, at about 5:45 pm.

Kozonov’s arrest is being considered.
