The representative of the supervisory authority spoke about the intercepted correspondence of the defendant with accomplices.

Former Head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region Alexander Shestun staged suicide and was preparing provocations against law enforcement officers. This was stated by official representative of the Prosecutor General Alexander Kurennoy. According to him, the investigation succeeded in intercepting Shestun’s correspondence, where he disclosed the details of the information campaign against “high-ranking officials from among the leadership of federal executive bodies.”

Shestun cut his veins "for transfer to a medical institution in which he got new connections," says Kurennoy. Also, a spokesman for the Prosecutor General’s Office accused Shestun to submit fictitious complaints about worsening mental health delaying the investigation.

On February 12, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the arrest to Shestun until May 13. Shestun is accused of large-scale Swindling (part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), Money Laundering (part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), Illegal Business Activity (Article 289 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation) and Bribery (part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Earlier, Kurennoy told that the law enforcers found a property worth 10 billion rubles, which is disproportionate to the ex-official’s income. The Prosecutor General’s Office removed a lawsuit to the court with a request to turn Shestun's property into state revenue.
