Court refused investigators arrest of State Duma deputy Belousov accused of receiving $53-million bribe

Leninsky court of Yekaterinburg refused to arrest the State Duma deputy from A Just Russia party Vadim Belousov, accused of receiving a bribe of 3.5 billion rubles ($53.6 m), reports TASS. Earlier, the ICR applied to the court with a petition for the deputy's detention.

On March 15, Belousov’s lawyer, Igor Trunov, said that the deputy had been summoned for questioning and taken to Leninsky court of Yekaterinburg for a preventive measure in the form of arrest to be elected.

In December 2018, Belousov was deprived of parliamentary immunity. The State Duma allowed initiating a case against him on Bribe-Taking on an especially large scale (part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to investigators, Belousov was involved in receiving a bribe for the provision of contracts for the construction of roads in the Chelyabinsk region, writes Kommersant. The deputy may also be named in the case of the ex-Governor of the Chelyabinsk region and the founder of pasta manufacturer Makfa Mikhail Yurevich, reports Ura.ru.
